PURPOSE: To increase elastic modulus of an electrode, and to suppress change in position due to a shock absorber by connecting a plurality of electrodes together, for which variable elastic members are provided in parallel to each other, in common and in every other line, through an electric connection means.
CONSTITUTION: A solid variable elastic member 7, which can select a spring characteristic, namely an elastic modulus, according to a voltage value to be applied, is used. The variable elastic member 7 is composed of a plurality of electrodes 7c, 7d provided in parallel to one another at a fixed pitch, and of an electrically insulating high polymeric material, for which fine particles are dispersed, which is electrically polarized due to the action of an electric field, and by which each gap between the respective electrodes 7c and 7d is covered. Electric connection means 7a, 7b, for which a solid layer 7e, the elastic modulus of which is changed according to the electric field intensity, and the plurality of electrodes 7c, 7d are connected together in common, in every other line, are provided, and the means are put between first members 5, 6 and second members 8, 9. Excessive contraction or stretching of an elastic body for absorbing vibration, and for connecting a rod 10 of a shock absorber 1 and car bodies 8, 9, are thus inhibited.
