PURPOSE: To efficiently remove at least a part of processing liquid after toner is removed in a state where the processing liquid is imparted, to dry the transfer paper and also to prevent the occurrence of wrinkles and waving by pulling the transfer paper in a carrying direction when it is in drying.
CONSTITUTION: A drying unit for drying the transfer paper 10 after the toner is removed is constituted of two pairs of rollers 457 and 458 arranged side by side in the carrying direction and a heater 459 arranged between two pairs of rollers, etc. A drive is inputted to the pair of carrying rollers 457 positioned on the upstream side in the carrying direction through a torque limiter. And after the leading end of the transfer paper 10 is held by the pair of rollers 458 positioned on the downstream side in the carrying direction, the rotation of a carrying driving shaft to the pair of carrying rollers 457 on the upstream side is stopped, or the rotation is switched to a reverse rotation so as to pull the transfer paper 10.
