Title:
METHOD AND INSTRUMENT FOR MEASURING ALIGNMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2524913
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a method and instrument which can measure the alignment of wheels with high accuracy.
CONSTITUTION: The output of a rotary encoder 33 is detected as the toe angle of a wheel 14b when the wheel 14b is clamped with wheel clamping means 36a and 36b arranged on a supporting shaft 28 while another wheel 14a is fixed. Then, after the wheel 14b is rotated by rotating rollers 114a and 114b by a prescribed angle, the wheel 14b is temporarily stopped and the toe angle of the wheel 14b is again measured. By calculating the arithmetical mean of the plurality of detected toe angles, the toe angle can be detected with high accuracy, because errors caused by the deformation, such as distortion, etc., of the wheel 14b can be canceled.
