Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance the vertical resolution by installing the following: first accumulation parts which are arranged every other row and can accumulate an electric charge covering one filed; and second additional accumulation parts which are arranged every other row and can accumulate an electric charge covering one field. CONSTITUTION:First accumulation parts 9 which accumulate a signal charge, in even-number lines, accumulated in a photodiode 1 and second accumulation parts 10 which accumulate a signal charge, in odd-number lines, accumulated in the photodiode 1 are formed alternately. Vertical transfer parts 3 and the first accumulation parts and the second accumulation parts 9, 10 form a four- gate one-bit structure where one bit is constituted by including four transfer gates adjacent in the vertical direction. A transfer of the first accumulation parts 9 is controlled by electrodes GM1a, GM3a, GM3a, GM4 for pulse application use; a transfer of the second accumulation parts 10 is controlled by electrodes GM1b, GM2' GM3b, GM4. Thereby, it is possible to transfer them without mixing two signal charges adjacent in the vertical direction, and to improve the resolution in the vertical direction sharply.
