Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method and a device for surely detecting with high accuracy the size and position of magnetic discontinuity of a wide, flat plate of a magnetizable material, such as a large tank or a container floor.
CONSTITUTION: The device has a magnetizing device 10 for inducing a magnetic field in a magnetizable plate 7 serving as a specimen, beside, a truck 1, an electric motor, a transmission, a driving wheel 4, and a non-driving wheel 6. Stay magnetic flux from the magnetic field induced in the specimen 7 is detected by a sensor, and the stray magnetic flux detected is converted into a signal for processing by a signal processor.
