PURPOSE: To actualize the optical component which can automatically match an active optical device with a corresponding optical element.

CONSTITUTION: The optical component includes a 1st substrate member 12 which supports the active optical device. A plurality of 2nd substrate members 18 support corresponding optical elements (fiber and coupling lens). The 2nd substrate members are stacked and an opening 20 penetrating them in the center supports the optical elements. The opening can be formed including a mechanical stop 72 suitable for the fixation of the position of an optical fiber end surface. With matching references 22 formed on the 1st and 2nd substrate members, they are automatically matched and stuck. The substrate members are made of silicon, metal, or plastic.
