Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare an optically active homo-β-amino acid, and to provide a homo-β-amino acid and homo-β-amino acid ester.
CONSTITUTION: A homo-β-amino acid having an optical purity sufficient to exhibit optical activity is synthesized by carrying out Curtius rearrangement of a 3-monosubstd. succinate acid halfester having an optical purity sufficient to exhibit optical activity and trapping an incipient isocyanate by a primary or secondary alcohol. The obtained carbamate-protected homo-β-amino acid ester is then saponified to produce the corresponding carbamate-protected homo-β-amino acid, which is then deprotected to obtain the objective homo-β- amino acid having an optical purity sufficient to exhibit optical activity.
