Abstract:

PURPOSE: To cause a rolling sliding component to exhibit excellent abrasion resistance for both sliding friction and rolling friction so as to enhance durability of various machine equipment by increasing the maximum compression residual stress of the surface layer portion of the rolling sliding component, and heightening the hardness of the surface layer portion while increasing the average value of the radius of curvature of each micro protrusion.
CONSTITUTION: This rolling sliding component is used in rolling or sliding contact with another opposite component. Particularly when the surface layer portion of the component has a depth of 0 to 50μm from the surface the surface layer portion has a maximum compression residual stress of 90kgf/mm2 or more and a hardness of HV 780 or more. The radius of curvature of the end of each micro protrusion present on the surface has an average value of 90μm or more. Stress applied to the end portion of each micro protrusion is thereby reduced to a small amount and abrasion of the end portion can be reduced to a small amount.
