Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a freshness-retaining agent exhibiting a high ethylene adsorption rate, capable of sufficiently maintaining its performance under a high- humidity condition, and further, free from generation of a harmful substance such as a chloride and, therefore, effective for retention of freshness of, e.g. fruits and vegetables or a flower.

CONSTITUTION: This freshness-retaining agent is prepared by supporting a hydrosilyl group-containing compound and a hydrosilylation catalyst on one or more carriers selected from mineral absorbents such as talc, a hormite, calcium carbonate and a calcium carbonate-containing mineral.
