Abstract:

PURPOSE: To effectively restrain the squat and lift of a car body in acceleration and deceleration without reducing a space in a cabin.

CONSTITUTION: A rear suspension has upper and lower trailing links 20, 22 connected pivotably to a carrier 10 at the rear ends, a connecting link 46 connected pivotably to the front end of the upper trailing link at the upper end and connected pivotably to the intermediate part of the lower trailing link at the lower end, and an assist link 50 connected pivotably to the front end of the upper trailing link at the upper end and connected pivotably to a car body at the lower end. The front end of the upper trailing link is positioned behind the lower end of the connecting link and in front of the lower end of the assist link, so that the rear end of the upper trailing link is displaced upward and slightly rearward of a vehicle as wheels bound.
