PURPOSE: To aim at a reduction in power required for compressor operation by relieving a frictional action to the end of a turning shaft in a way of utilizing a pressure differential between discharge pressure and inlet pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A buffer chamber 16 is formed on an extension of a shaft end 4a of a turning shaft 4 being fitted in the end face of a cylinder block 1, and a partition plate 17 is slidably housed in its large diametral part, thereby partitioning it into a pair of pressure opposing chambers 16A and 16B. A pressing spring 19 is housed in the pressure opposing chamber 16B, and the partition plate 17 is energized to the side of the shaft end 4a. In addition, the pressure opposing chamber 16A is connected to a discharge chamber 3b via a passage 20A, and the chamber 16B is connected to an inlet chamber 3a via a passage 20B. With operation of a compressor, discharge coolant gas pressure is going higher and consequently pressure in the chamber 16A comes to exceed the sum of pressure in the chamber 16B and spring force of the pressing spring 19. In this pressure opposing state, as the partition plate 17 separates from the shaft end 4a, power required for operating the compressor is reduced without receiving any frictional force.
