Abstract:
PURPOSE:To almost uniformly make the whole surface of a negative electrode react, to improve charge-discharge efficiency, and to increase cycling performance by making the lithium concentration on the periphery of a negative electrode mainly comprising aluminium-lithium alloy lower than that in its center. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode 1 is pressed against a negative current collector 3 fixed to the inner bottom of a negative can 2. A positive electrode 4 is formed by molding of a mixture of 80 pts.wt. manganese dioxide serving as active material, 10 pts.wt. acetylene black serving as conductor, and 10 pts.wt. fluororesin serving as binder. The positive electrode 4 is pressed against a positive current collector 6 fixed to the inner bottom of a positive can 5. The lithium concentration on the reaction surface of the negative electrode 1 mainly comprising aluminium-lithium alloy is made lower in its periphery compared with its center. The preferable lithium concentration difference between the periphery and the center is 5-35 molar percent. The reaction in the center is accelerated and the whole reaction surface of the negative electrode almost uniformly reacts, and charge-discharge efficiency is improved. Cycling performance is therefore increased.
