Abstract:
An automatic installation is for changing sliver cans incorporates a wagon which runs behind a spinning machine along a row of sliver cans and moves to and fro between a starting position and a spindle. The installation is supplied with a signal for the requirement of a full can and effects the removal of a nearly empty can and the supply of a full can. A sliver splicing robot severs the sliver extending between the spindle and the empty can and for splicing the ends of the severed sliver to the sliver end of a full can. The robot hangs down from an overhead support, which travels to the spindle in accordance with a signal requesting a full can. ADVANTAGE - The invention is capable of severing the existing sliver and of splicing the sliver in connection with an automatic can change.
