Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable increasing recording density and to obtain a medium being superior in an electromagnetic conversion characteristic in a high frequency band by specifying the minimum value of reflectance of a specified wavelength at the surface of a magnetic layer provided by depositing a metal element of one kind or more onto a support and the surface side of the supporter.
SOLUTION: A magnetic recording medium 1 is provided with magnetic layers 3 provided on a support 2 and the surface of the support 2, a protection layer 4 and a lubrication layer 5 are provided on the magnetic layer 3, and back coat layer 6 is provided on the back surface side of the support 2. The magnetic layer 3 is a layer which is provided by depositing a metal element of one kind or more onto the surface side of the support 2 and has specific reflectance. In the specific reflectance of the magnetic layer 3, the minimum value of reflectance in a wavelength 800 nm-600 nm in the surface is 40-70%, preferably 50-60%. When the minimum value is less than 40%, an electromagnetic conversion characteristic is adversely affected, when it is more than 70%, an electromagnetic conversion characteristic is deteriorated.
