Abstract:

PURPOSE:To provide the high-performance polarizing film by orienting and incorporating certain specific dichromatic dyes into the polarizing film consisting of polyethylene(PE) naphthalate as the base material of the film. CONSTITUTION:This polarizing film is the polarizing film consisting of the PE naphthalate and the dyes and the dyes contain at least one kind of the dichromatic dyes having a biphenyl group, naphthyl group or anthraquinonyl group. The polarizing film formed by mixing these specific dichromatic dyes with the PE naphthalate is higher in polarization performance, heat resistant dimensional stability, wet heat resistance, etc., than a PE terephalate/dye system and is extremely useful as the polarizing film for liquid crystal display.
