Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the resistance loss accompanying the resistance of an electrolyte when mounted on an electrode tank by projecting a surface of a reactive layer of an electrode forward of a surface of an outer peripheral portion of a metal frame to form a projecting portion, and sufficiently reducing the thickness of a cathodic chamber. SOLUTION: An edge portion of a gas diffusion electrode 1 in which a reactive layer, a silver net and a gas feed layer are laminated is surrounded by a silver plate frame 2 having U-shaped cross section. This gas diffusion electrode 1 is supported by an Ni metal frame 3. The metal frame 3 is formed of an Ni sheet metal of about 1 mm in thickness in a stepped manner higher toward a center. The gas diffusion electrode 1 is placed and supported on the metal frame 3 by being connected to a gas feed layer side with the gas diffusion electrode 1 laminated thereon, so that the gas diffusion electrode 1 is a projecting part with respect to the metal frame 3. The gas diffusion electrode 1 with the silver plate frame 2 in a frame fashion is placed on the metal frame 3, hot-pressed in this state, and the silver plate frame 2 can be simultaneously joined with the gas diffusion electrode 1.
