Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge the degree of freedom on scanning speed and to read a code which is recorded in a recording medium and can optically be read by manual scanning.
SOLUTION: The area sensor 20A of an image pickup part 20 in a code reader which optically reads the code by manually scanning the recording medium where a two-dimensional code in which plural blocks having dot patterns arranged in accordance with multi-media information are arranged are recorded outputs an image signal in accordance with a clock signal CLK 1 generated in a clock generation part 40. The area sensor 20A is constituted in such a way that 160mm/s to 200m/s can be allowed as maximum scanning speed V which can read the code at the time of manual scanning regulated by V=(m-1).1m/t ((m) is the number of blocks in the scanning direction in one pickup image, 1m is the length of the scanning direction of one block and (t) is an image pickup period), and the clock signal CLK 1 is limited.
