Abstract:

PURPOSE: To achieve higher detection sensitivity by stabilizing a base line in the detection by post column deriving processing.
CONSTITUTION: A pump 3 for feeding liquid of a mobile phase comprising acid water containing an ammonia salt is provided at one end of an analysis column 1 having an H type sulfonated polystyrene resin as packing agent through a sample introduction mechanism 2 and a pump 7 for feeding liquid of an orthophthal aldehydie solution is provided at the other end thereof through a reactor 5. By using the orthophthal aldehyde solution supplied from a pump 5 and the ammonia salt existing intrinsically in the mobile phase cyanide ions separated with the analysis column 1 are turned to a phosphor by a postcolumn deriving process with a reactor 5 to be detected with a fluorescence detector 6. In this process, as one of reaction liquids for the postcolumn deriving process is contained in the mobile phase, only the other reaction liquid has to be sent. Thus, changes in the quantity of the reaction liquid are checked thereby stabilizing the base line the an output of the detector.
