PURPOSE: To provide the film rewinding device for the camera which rewinds a film in its cartridge so that a margin with certain length is left outside the cartridge at all times.

CONSTITUTION: When a tip detecting means 101 detects the tip of the film while the film is rewound at a 1st rewinding speed, a driving control means 104 control the driving of a motor 100 at a 2nd rewinding speed slower than the 1st rewinding speed when a 1st rewinding mode is selected or above the 1st rewinding speed when a 2nd rewinding mode is selected; when a clocking means 103 outputs a timing signal. the motor 100 is stopped.
