Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a semiconductor laser in which measures are taken against surge current without additional parts or steps in its assembly process.
CONSTITUTION: A semiconductor laser comprises a semiconductor laser chip 1, and ceramic capacitor chip C1 including a ceramic dielectric 2 and electrodes 3 and 4 that sandwich the dielectric. The semiconductor laser chip is connected electrically to the electrode 3 through a silicon submount 5. In this manner, the semiconductor laser chip 1 is integrated with the ceramic capacitor chip C1, which absorbs surge current from a driver circuit.
