Abstract:

PURPOSE: To execute the quenching by using a laser beam having the optimum density distribution, at the time of executing the quenching by relatively shifting along the surface while applying the laser beam to a material to be machined.

CONSTITUTION: By using the beam having the peak of the power density at the front in the shifting direction of the relative beam, the holding time to the quenching part at the temp. of austenizing temp. of the material (A3 point) or higher and the m.p. thereof (Tm) or lower, is lengthened.
