PURPOSE: To provide a picture reproducing device by which a reproduction picture with less visual deterioration is obtained by selecting a data block for in-field interpolation based on a decoding state of surrounding blocks around an error correction disable block in the picture data reproduction so as to attain the in-field interpolation when part of the surrounding blocks is disable of error correction.

CONSTITUTION: The picture reproducing device is a device decoding coded picture data to reproduce a picture and is provided with an interpolation means 9 interpolating object picture data through the use of surrounding data, a detection means detecting a decoding state of the surrounding data, and a selection means 7 selecting data used for interpolation among the surrounding data based on the result of detection of the detection means and the interpolation means 9 interpolates the object picture data by using the data selected by the selection means 7.
