PURPOSE: To reduce the cross color, that a luminance signal is mixed into a color signal, regardless of the existence of a high band component of the luminance signal.
CONSTITUTION: The phase difference of the color signal is detected by phase detecting circuits 8 and 10, and correlations of the color signal between a noticed signal and a nearby point in the vertical direction and those of the luminance signal between them are obtained by correlation detecting circuits 7 and 9. Outputs of phase detecting circuits 8 and 10 are used, and the luminance signal correlation value and the color signal correlation value as outputs of correlation detecting circuits 7 and 9 are mixed by mixing circuits 11 and 12 to obtain a correlation value, thereby reducing the cross color, that the luminance signal is mixed into the color signal, regardless of the existence of a high band component of the luminance signal.
