Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the subject refractory strengthened over the range of low to high temperatures, improved in durability with its spalling resistance retained.

CONSTITUTION: The objective refractory is such that (A) a refractory parent material comprising (1) 5-90wt.% of a carbonaceous material and (2) 10-95wt.% of a refractory material is incorporated with (B) 0.1-10wt.% (outer percentage) of an Al-Ce alloy at the atom ratio Al/Ce of (20:1) to (1:10). Owing to this composition, the final refractory has high durability with the texture of its surface and inside densified and consolidated.
