PURPOSE: To provide a suspension device, capable of keeping off any damage to a suspension unit due to a large impact input, reducing an amount of power consumption and promoting a compactification of the system.

CONSTITUTION: This suspension system is provided with a hydraulic shock absorber P interposed between a car ]body and a wheel, an outer tube 23 being installed at the side of a piston rod 22 and relatively shiftable at the outer circumferential side of a cylinder tube 11, four magnets 2a-2d being installed in the piston rod and the outer tube and forming two radial magnetic fields B1, B2 in holding this cylinder tube between, and a coil 3 being installed in the cylinder tube and wound in the direction being crossed with each stroke direction of the magnetic field and the piston 21, respectively.
