Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience and utility of a communication equipment, in which a single line is used in common for telephone communication and data communication by selecting properly the line to a telephone set or a data equipment side depending on an opposite party, so as to make data communication or message recording and avoiding recording of unwanted messages thereby realizing delivery of messages and reduction in waste.
SOLUTION: This communication equipment makes a prescribed communication by selectively connecting a line to a handset side or a modem 17 is provided with a voice recording/output unit 21 that records voice messages and with a polarity inversion detection unit 22 that detects line interruption and discriminates a facsimile equipment or a telephone set, depending on the presence/absence of a DTMF signal from the opposite party after a line connection. When the facsimile equipment is discriminated, facsimile communication is executed. On the other hand, when the telephone set is discriminated, a voice message is recorded after the discrimination, and when line interruption is detected during the recording, the recording is stopped and the line is released.
