PURPOSE: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner of such a constitution that bad smell components of the dust collected in a dust sack is prevented from being released for a long period.
CONSTITUTION: A deodorizing substance 4 and a fan 5 are installed in a dust chamber 2 of an electric vacuum cleaner, and the fan 5 is operated for a certain time prior to driving a motor blower, and thereby the bad smell due to the refuse collected in the dust chamber 2 is passed through the deodorizing substance 4 iteratively so as to remove bad smell from the exhaust air. This achieves enhancement the performance of exhaust deodorization and long duration of the effect without requiring equipment of the deodorizing substance 4 with any boosted deodorizing effect, and bad smell release from the exhaust hole while the vacuum cleaner is in operation is prevented, and the cleaning work can be done with no sense of uncomfort involved.
