PURPOSE: To provide the liquid crystal display unit of simple constitution which can eliminate a display irregularity.

CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal display unit 1 is equipped with a 1st substrate 4 where plural common electrodes 2 are arranged, a 2nd substrate 5 where plural segment electrodes 3 having the same shape as a common electrode are arranged, and a liquid crystal layer. Each electrode consists of a 1st part which is extending wide from a feed end part 2a toward a folding part 2b and a 2nd part which is wide from the folding part toward and open end part 2c extending to the vicinity of the feed end part. The folding type electrode like this is impressed with a nearly uniform voltage over the entire length and pixels in an area where electrodes arranged in matrix shape overlap can be impressed with a nearly mean effective voltage over the entire area of display unit, so that a display can be made without irregularity.
