PURPOSE: To enhance a cycle life characteristic by forming a positive electrode active material skeleton of a double oxide of perovskite structure expressed by a chemical formula RMO3.
CONSTITUTION: Lead powder composed mainly of lead monoxide and BaPbO3 (double oxide of perovskite structure) of 5-40weight%, for example, to this lead powder are mixed at 80weight% in a sulfuric acid of 50% concentration, and kneaded to provide a positive electrode active material paste. Next, this positive electrode active material paste is filled into a grid body made of a lead alloy and subjected to aging, drying and formation to provide a positive electrode plate. Since the double oxide of perovskite structure is provided with acid resistance and oxidation resistance and inactive, it can suppress the positive electrode active material from becoming fine and muddy so as to enhance a cycle life characteristic.
