PURPOSE: To prevent ink from leaking out at the time of physical distribution and a change in external environment, in an ink container which stores ink in a porous element, by mounting a member for preventing the porous element from coming into direct contact with an atmosphere communicating hole for eliminating the porous element coming into contact with the atmosphere communicating hole.

CONSTITUTION: An ink container 1 for ink cartridge is provided with an outer tube 3 which has an atmosphere communicating hole at its one end, and an atmosphere communicating hole member which has a structure for making it difficult for ink which impregnates a porous element to leak out to the outside of the ink container 1 is inserted in its inside. Ribs 2 are protruded at one end of the ink container 1, by which the porous element is lifted up from the bottom surface of the container to form a buffer chamber. At the other end of the ink container 1, an ink feed port 4 is formed. A roof part 12 which serves as an ink leaking prevention member is mounted onto the outer tube 3 of the atmosphere communicating port, and the atmosphere communicating port 5 formed at the outer tube 3 of the porous element 6 in the ink container 1 is disposed so as not to be brought into direct contact. It is thus possible to prevent ink from leaking out.
