Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve creep characteristics and to extend the remaining life of a single crystal material which deteriorates in strength after used as a turbine blade of a jet engine or a gas turbine in an environment of high temp. and high stress.
SOLUTION: A single crystal material which is used for a time in a const. creep region (a) or in the initial stage (b) of acceleration creep and deteriorates its strength, for example, a Ni-based super heat-resistant single crystal alloy, is heat-treated to extend its life shown as curves (B) and (C).
