PURPOSE: To keep the quantity of developer in a developing tank constant, to prevent the electrostatic charging performance of the developer from being deteriorated, and to obtain a stable copied image by opening a developer overflow port linking with the attaching operation of a developer recovery container and fixing a developing device at a specified position in a main body device.
CONSTITUTION: Since the developer overflow port 24 is opened with the attaching operation of the developer recovery container 23 to the developing device 8 and the device 8 is fixed at the specified position on a photoreceptor 4 side, the device 8 in a state where the overflow port 24 is opened is avoided from being inadvertently detached from a copying machine main body. The overflow port 24 is closed linking with the detaching operation of the container 23 from the device 8 and the fixed state of the device 8 is released, so that the developer is prevented from overflowing from the overflow port 24 because of the vibration caused by the detaching operation of the container 23.
