Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce an iron-base sintered alloy having excellent wear resistance by reducing a powder mixture composed of metal oxide powders and carbon powders and molding and sintering the resultant co-reduced powder contg. Fe then subjecting the molding to a carbide precipitation treatment at a specific temp. CONSTITUTION:The powders mixture composed of the plural metal oxide powders and carbon powders is reduced. The reduced powder which is obtd. in such a manner and adjusted to about preperably 1-10mum average grain size is press-molded by metallic molds. This green compact is sintered at about 1060-1180 deg.C in a vacuum or nonoxidizing atmosphere. The sintered body obtd. in such a manner is preferably composed of 3-6.5wt.% C, 10-40% Cr, and the balance Fe and is further added with >=1 kinds among 0.1-25% >=1 kinds among Mo, W and Ta, 0.1-5% >=1 kinds among Ti, Zr, Hf, V, and Nb, and 0.1-10%>=1 kinds among Ni, Co and Mn at need. The sintered body obtd. in such a manner is subjected to the carbide precipitation treatment in a 500-1050 deg.C range. The iron-base sintered alloy which is highly resistant to wear and does not wear the mating material is thereby obtd.
