Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a multicolored cotton yarn without carrying out the dyeing by changing the color of colored raw cotton containing a natural pigment to a deep color and simultaneously improving the color fastness to light.
CONSTITUTION: Colored raw cotton is treated with a penetrant, then immersed in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble metallic salt such as an iron salt, a cobalt salt, an aluminum salt, a chromium salt, a copper salt or a tin salt, heated and treated for a prescribed time. A deep color is developed by the kind of the water-soluble metallic salt and combination of the salt with the original color, and the color fastness to light is simultaneously improved. The dispersion in color of the raw cotton can be regulated by this treatment and fading of the raw cotton can be covered. An alkali can further be added to the aqueous solution to afford a wide range of bright color.
