Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain powder of a young leaf of barley, wheat, etc., for cooking or drinking use by washing the young leaf of the barley, wheat, etc., with water, heat-treating the washed young leaf of the barley, wheat, etc., in a mixed solution of salt with sodium bicarbonate, cooling the heat-treated leaf of the barley, etc., with cold water, dehydrating and drying the cooled leaf of the barley, wheat, etc., and then powdering the dried leaf of the barley, wheat, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This method for producing powder of a young leaf of barley, wheat, etc., is to wash the young leaf of barley, wheat, etc., grown to 30-40cm height with water, charge 10-25vol.% washed leaf of the barley, wheat, etc., into a heated mixed aqueous solution of 0.2-3wt.% salt with 0.2-3wt.% sodium bicarbonate, heat-treat the young leaf of the barley, wheat, etc., cool the heat- treated young leaf of the barley, wheat, etc., with cold water, dehydrate the cooled young leaf of the barley, wheat, etc., with a centrifuge, dry the resultant young leaf of the barley, wheat, etc., to ≤5% residual moisture content with a dryer, pulverize the dried young leaf of the barley, wheat, etc., into powder containing 90% particles having 200 mesh size with a stone grist mill and then sterilize the powdery young leaf of the barley, wheat, etc.
