Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nanobeacon having encryption and stealth properties crucial for high security that precludes duplication, and an anti-counterfeit technology using the nanobeacon.SOLUTION: The anti-counterfeit technology comprises observation of a coded optical signal from a noble metal nanostructure that is minute and substantially invisible. The technology is achieved by using a nanobeacon that emits intense surface enhanced Raman scattering even when the nanostructure is in an extremely minute amount, and by using optical signals as physical or chemical codes depending on combinations of materials and forms of the noble metal nanostructure constituting the nanobeacon, spices of reporter molecules, laser wavelengths used for verification, and characteristics of optical components of a measurement device to be used for verification. The anti-counterfeit technology achieves such characteristics that: since the nanostructure is in an extremely minute amount, the structure is unnoticed by a third party and is inexpensive while using a noble metal as a raw material; it takes only several seconds for verification; and physically or chemically diversified codes are obtained, which makes counterfeit or duplication extremely difficult.
