Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To share a navigation system by selecting and exchanging the CD- ROMs used in various types of systems.
SOLUTION: An information memory 3 stores navigation processing programs for various types of systems along with map information and course information for searching and guiding the course. A central processing unit 4 comprises a means 42 for storing the programs, a means 41 for retrieving a corresponding type of program from the information memory 3 to start reading of means 42, and a means 43 for storing a searched course temporarily. According to the system, the information memory 3 can be shared among respective types of system and a versatile navigation system can be provided regardless of the type of central processing unit 4.
