PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode material for a secondary battery, reducing and suppressing an expansion coefficient of a silicon-containing high-capacity alloy material and capable of achieving favorable charge/discharge cycle characteristics.SOLUTION: An alloy particle includes: one or two or more kinds of transition metals which are selected from a metal group belonging to transition metals and which have electron conductivity and hardly react with a lithium atom; and silicon. The alloy particle includes amorphous silicon and microcrystals of a silicide comprising the silicon and the transition metals, and has a structure in which microcrystals of a silicide are dotted in the amorphous silicon.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
