PURPOSE: To provide a nematic liquid crystal compsn. which is obtd. by adding a 10W19 C satd. hydrocarbon to a liquid crystal in a predetermined wt. ratio., and shows a superior responding property when applied to a TN type liquid crystal display device.
CONSTITUTION: The nematic liquid crystal compsn. is obtd. by adding 1W7 pts. wt. os a 10W19 C satd. hydrocarbon to 100 pts. wt. of one or more kinds of liquid crystal cpds. such as Schiff base cpds., biphenyl cpds., ester cpds. and azoxy cpds. The liquid crystal cpds. include a nematic liquid crystal body consisting of YN-1; 90 pts. wt. and p-n-butyl-benzoic acid-p'-cyanophenyl; 10 pts. wt. The hydrocarbon may be, e.g. n-decane, n-undecane or n-dodecane. By blending this compsn., responding time can be reduced and lightening start voltage can be lowered by about 10%.
