Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network device which enables efficient data transfer, by arranging a shared memory having few number of pins, in a high-speed network.
SOLUTION: The network device comprises a plurality of network circuits which transmit and receive data to/from a network, respectively, and the shared memory which temporarily stores the data received by the network circuits, before the data is transmitted to the network. This shared memory includes a plurality of memory banks that are accessible from the plurality of network circuits. When a read-out access with respect to a certain memory bank is given to a network circuit so as to read out the data transmitted to the network, a write access to other memory bank is implemented to other network circuits so as to write data received from the network.
