Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the entire system from being disable of communication even on the occurrence of a fault in the communication system using a synchronous data link control(SDLC) procedure configured by connecting plural controllers apart from each other at remote locations in loops with communication lines.
SOLUTION: Stations apart from each other at remote location are connected by communication lines in duplicate through two sets each of MODEMs 2a, 2b, ..., 2g, 2h. Then the transmission directions on the two lines are made opposite to each other, and a primary station 5a connects to secondary stations 6a, 6b, 6c sequentially through the loops 3, 4 to send a frame to them, then all the stations in the loops make N:M communication. On the occurrence of a fault on a loop, a 1st station at a downstream of the fault of each loop sends a control frame to all the stations in the loop to report occurrence of the fault and acts like a primary station to the downstream transmission direction to start sending the transmission frame, thereby continuing N:M communication except the faulty station.
