To obtain the subject new compound that has the action of differentiation acceleration of nerve cells and is useful as a pharmaceutical, for example, a differentiation acceleration agent for nerve cells, a central nerve disorder treatment agent and a peripheral nerve disorder treatment agent.
This is a compound of formula I[X is O, S, SO; Y is a (substituted) 7-20C aliphatic hydrocarbon; Z is carboxy, sulfonic acid, phosphoric acid and the like], typically (1R,2S)-2-[(2R)-{2-acetylamino-3-oxo-3-(1- pyrrolidinyl)}-propylthio]methyl-3-oxo-1-cyclopentanecarboxylic acid. The compound of the formula I is prepared by condensation reaction between a compound of formula II (U is an eliminable group; Z' is the same as Z) and a compound of the formula: HX2-Y' (X2 is S, O, NH; Y' is the same as Y) in the presence of a base as sodium hydroxide preferably in a solvent as acetone at 0-100°C.
