PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound, good in dynamic sensitivity of a heat-sensitive coloring layer, providing formed colored images capable of manifesting excellent oil and plasticizer resistance and useful as a developer for a heat-sensitive record.

CONSTITUTION: This 4,4'-bis(o-toluenesulfonylaminocarbonylamino)diphenyl compound is expressed by formula I (A is O, S or SO2), e.g. 4,4'-bis(o- toluenesulfonylaminocarbonylamino)-diphenyl sulfide. This compound expressed by formula I is obtained by reacting, e.g. a compound expressed by formula II with a compound expressed by formula III. The compound expressed by formula I is useful as a developer and a heat-sensitive record obtained by using this compound has high whiteness and is excellent in sensitivity and further oil, plasticizer, moisture and heat resistance, etc. Thereby, colored images excellent in shelf life for a long period can be formed.
