EXAMPLE: 4-Methoxy-5,5,8,8-tetramethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-1-naphthalenol.
USE: An antioxidant in a cosmetic composition, and a medicine composition for preventive treatment to dermatitis, allergy or some kinds of cancer morphology.
PREPARATION: A dichloroalkane of formula II is reacted with 4-alkoxyphenol of formula III (R' is H, an alkyl), or 1,4-dialkoxybenzene in an organic solvent in the presence of Lewis acid, to obtain a compound of formula I.
