Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound useful as an anti-tumor agent, having excellent antitumor action.

CONSTITUTION: An acetylenic compound of the formula (R is ethyl or CH2=CH) such as 9,10-epoxy-1-heptadecaen-4,6-diyn-3-ol-linolate. The compound is obtained by extracting ginseng of galenical drug with a solvent selected from hexane, petroleum ether, etc., removing the solvent from the extract solution to give the residue, fractionating and purifying the residue by silica gel chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography using an extracting solvent selected from hexane, acetone, etc.
