Abstract:

To obtain both a new antimicrobial protein gene derived from Wasabia japonica and a transgenic plant provided with disease resistance by the transfer of the gene.

This protein is (a) a protein comprising an amino acid sequence represented by sequence number 2 or 4 (refer to the specification) or (b) a protein in which one or plural amino acids are deleted, substituted or added in the amino acid sequence represented by sequence number 2 or 4 and which has antimicrobial activity. This gene encodes the protein.
