Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new enantiometrically pure specific diphenylbisphosphine useful e.g. as a ligand of a metallic catalyst capable of performing asymmetric reaction, especially asymmetric hydrogenation reaction in high stereoselectivity.
SOLUTION: The objective compound is an enantiometrically pure new bisphosphine expressed by formula I [R is phenyl which may have 1-3 substituents such as OR1 (R1 is a 1-6C alkyl), R1, nitro, NH2, NHR1 or NR12, a 1-7C alkyl or a 3-7C cycloalkyl]. It is useful e.g. as a ligand of a metal complex as a catalyst for performing asymmetric reaction, especially asymmetric hydrogenation reaction in high stereoselectivity. The compound can be produced by metallizing 5-bromo-2-chloro-anisole, reacting with a substituted phosphinic acid chloride expressed by formula II, metallizing the 6-site of the product, iodinating by reacting with iodine, dimerizing the product to form a racemic compound and subjecting the compound to optical resolution by the crystallization together with an enantiometrically pure carboxylic acid.
