Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound, composed of a specific compound having an acid anhydride group and cyclic phosphonic acid ester group in the molecule, showing a flame-retardant effect, and useful as a hardening agent, reactivity modifier or the like for epoxy resin to give the hardened resin excellent in flame-retardancy. SOLUTION: This new compound is shown by the formula (R is a lower alkyl) having an acid anhydride group and cyclic phosphonic acid ester group in the molecule, e.g. 4-(5-ethyl-2-phenyl-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorynane) methoxycarbonyl-phthalic acid anhydride. It is useful as a hardening agent, reactivity modifier or the like for epoxy resin applicable to, e.g. paints, adhesives, sealants, coating materials and forming materials. This compound is obtained by reacting trimethylolpropane or the like in the presence of phenylphosphonic acid dichloride and 2,6-lutidine or the like in 1,4-dioxane as the solvent, and by reacting the chloride of trimellitic acid anhydride formed by the above reaction, without isolating the product, with 2,6-lutidine or the like at 60 deg.C for 1 h.
