NEW MATERIAL: Compd. expressed by formula I, its tautomers or its salts. In formula I, R is H, alkyl; R1 is alkyl, substd. or unsubstd. aryl; R2, R3 are each H, or R2 and R3 are bonded; A is a benzene ring having ≤5 substituents; X is O, S, partial NR4 (R4 is H, alkyl); (n) is an integer 2 to 6.

EXAMPLE: 5-{4-[2-(N-(N'-phenylthioureido)ethoxy)]benzyl}-2,4-thiazolidinedione.

USE: Drug for treatment and/or prevention of hyperglycemia or hyperlipemia.

PROCESS: The compd. expressed by formula I is obtd. by (a) allowing a compd. expressed by formula II (Ra is a part to be converted into formula III) to react with a proper reagent which can convert Ra into formula III, or by (b) allowing a compd. expressed by formula IV (R10 is expressed by formula V) to react with 2,4-thiazolidinedione.
