Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL: A compd. represented by the formula (wherein R1 is H or oxo, R2 is methyl or l-hydroxyethyl, R3 is H, methyl or rhamnosyloxycarbonyl, R4 is H, 2-hydroxypropyl, acetoxy or methyl and bonds between C1 and C2 and between C3 and C4 are a double bond).
USE: An antibacterial agent.
PROCESS: For example, DSM 4349, DSM 4355, DSM 200 and DSM 4211 of the genus Streptomyces and mutuants of them are mixed in a nutreient medium to be subjected to shaking culture at 27°C for 10-14 days and this culture medium is centrifugally separated to collect a supernatant soln. and ethyl acetate is added to this soln. to extract a product and the extract is purified by silica gel chromatography to obtain the compd. represented by the formula.
